Statement on the Ramseys

It has just been announced that a man identified as John Mark Karr has confessed to the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey, and has intimate knowledge of certain details of the case that were not made public. The man, currently in Thailand, is to be extradited to the US in the next few days.

This website has been following this case and has had a page on the Ramseys up since 1997, shortly after the crime was first committed. This page can be seen here - http://www.reversespeech.com/ramsey.htm. Our official conclusion on this case, as stated at the bottom of this page, has always been that there were no reversals of confession for the crime by the Ramseys and that the crime was probably committed by someone else. This site has noted though that the Ramsey's seemed to have detailed knowledge of the crime and may have been involved in some way. If this turns out to not have been the case then we will need to re-examine how we have interpreted these reversals. Some of them may be explained by feelings of guilt or grief, or factors we have no knowledge about. It is too early to state anything yet and we will watch closely as this case plays itself out and make appropriate comments on this site accordingly.
