| The Effects of Reverse Speech
and "Its Only A Metaphor" on me

I was recently asked to pontificate my
experiences with Reverse Speech as it related to
reading "Its Only a Metaphor", a book
by David John Oates, who is the discoverer of
Reverse Speech. What Im about to relate to
you may sound nuts, or crazy, but from my
perspective it is simply fact. I have no
intention of explaining Reverse Speech in this
writing. If you have no understanding of the
process you can revert to my thesis paper or
other similar papers at, http://www.reversespeech.com.
As a beginning student, back in 1996, I had
absolutely no knowledge of what Reverse Speech
was. I didnt understand it, nor did I think
much of it. I heard about it on a rather dubious
show hosted by Art Bell who was infamous for
presenting the fringe nutcases of the world.
However after listening to several hours of
presentation by David John Oates, I realized this
was different from the usual Art Bell fare, and I
began to take interest.
Within a few months I became a student of
Reverse Speech and was fast becoming a friend of
David Oates. David had written a book, among
several, called "Its Only A Metaphor".
IOAM is a book that David Oates wrote while in a
trance. I personally cant tell you exactly
why it effects some people the way it does, but I
can tell you how it effected me. It was an eye
opener regarding the paranormal.
As a Police Officer for 22 years, I tend to be
skeptical of most things, and had been very
skeptical of the paranormal. I must admit that I
wasnt a complete virgin on the subject.
Both my wife and my sister in law are partially
Cherokee Indian. During our 24 years of marriage
I had been told often about spirits and spooks
and little "green guys", but I had no
real belief in any of it. I blew it off as a
cultural thing and let it go at that. But then
David offered to let me read IOAM before he
released it.
I didnt expect too much from the book
when I started it. The book seemed to simply be a
rehash of Davids life and his discovery. Im
not sure I remember when David told me he had
written it while in a trance, but Im glad
he didnt tell me at first or I would have
probably trashed it. Im still not big on
trances to this day. As I worked my way through
the book, some very interesting things began to
happen. I began to see evidence of other Reverse
Speech Phenomenon that seemed to involve
paranormal activity.
While reading the book, I began to notice
things I had not noted before. In the course of
my training I also learned that Reverse Speech
awakens parts of your mind that you never knew
existed. Scientists refer to it as the right
brain, and Ill have to take their word for
that. All that I know is that parts of my mind
began to see and hear things that I never heard
or saw before. Things that my wife and sister, as
Indians had taken for granted their entire life.
Both were elated that I was beginning to take
notice of these "unusual" things.
One of the first incidents that came up is
probably a good example. While reading the book,
my sister in law wrote me an email in a panic.
She told me a wolf was behind me where I couldnt
see it. I was new and she is not an RS student,
so neither of us knew what it meant.
I learned later that when David does his
trances he often sends his "she-wolf"
out there to see people. As I said, I was new and
David still didnt know me well yet. He damn
sure wasnt about to explain his she- wolf
to me at that point. Once we discovered that my
sister could see his wolf, he began to further
explain some of his theories. Had he not had some
documentation on this beforehand, I would have
blown all of this out the front door. The fact
was he did trance with his wolf and my sister
from 200 miles away had seen it.
I know how all this sounds to the uninitiated,
and let me say it seemed just as weird to me as
well. But as I continued to read the book, I
started seeing things too. The first thing I
noticed was that something was moving around me.
My sister in law also began to write me emails
asking me about things that she was seeing in
"visions". Eventually I focused on the
movement and discovered that I could see an
Indian Medicine man with 2 feathers in his hair.
This was apparently a spirit, or so I thought. Im
not certain why I felt I had to name him, but I
felt I had to. So I named him "2-feathers".
Not very original but it fit. Some time later I
learned that in Indian belief if you feel that
you have to name a spirit you have more of a
direct connection with him or her.
Now keep in mind, I still didnt have a
whole lot of belief in all this " green guy"
stuff. But then again, now I had this Indian
"spook" hanging out with me. After
consulting with several Indian Shamans, who are
high Indian priest types, I was told this was a
spirit guild for me. Chances are he had been with
me for years. Only now I could see him and was
aware of his presence. What created this
awareness? I have to presume it was Reverse
Speech, and undoubtedly reading IOAM since that
was when it all began.
Once you accept these things, the going always
becomes easier. On the advice of my sister in law
and wife, I actually began to interact with the
guild. Several incidents over the next year or so
required me to make some serious decisions,
several in seconds. All I can say is that I
apparently made the right ones. Was it due to
guidance? I believe so since there is no other
explanation. No amount of training can replace
"instinct". I have always depended upon
instinct far and above any training that I had.
Now I realize that "instinct" was and
probably has always been simply, a little
help from my friends.
After you learn to listen all
becomes much simpler. A little over a year ago I
was compelled to go out to some desert property
we own. I hadnt been there in quite some
time. I didnt know why I had to go there, I
just knew that I did. This is also near where my
sister in law lives. She also knew that I had to
do this thing. When I went there the wind was
blowing just awful. As I looked around I could
see in the clouds a formation that was exactly
like what you would call an Indian Totem pole
with a thunderbird, all in red. I didnt
have a clue what it meant, but I knew it meant
something. I did some research afterwards on the
significance of the Thunderbird in Indian
folklore. I learned that this was the symbol that
"everything was going to be alright". I
dont believe Ive seen 2-feathers
since.
In the Indian beliefs once you are aware of
the guild and that guild has completed his
mission, he moves on. I quit seeing 2-feathers
after the Thunderbird. I presumed initially that
it was because I had nearly stopped studying
reverse speech daily, and didnt have time
to continually listen to reversals on an ongoing
basis. My sister in law has told me that 2-feathers
job was done, and he has moved on.
My Sister in law also tells me I have a new
guild, which I still cant see yet. Some guy
in a white suit. Frustrated at his inability to
communicate with me he has currently taken up
bothering my sister in law for the time being. I
guess being Indian has its drawbacks.
Im not sure Im ready for another
spook in my life that looks like Mr. Rourke. (Fantasy
Island for you youngsters). My understanding of
all this is I really dont have much of a
choice. The choice I have is to accept, reject,
or work with it, and that is what I have learned
to do.
Am I now absolutely a convert to spooks? Nope.
Nothing is absolute. Do I have an opened mind now
whereas I didnt before? You bet I do. Im
receptive to anything that cant be
explained away. At this point you might be asking
yourself how is it that a white guy with a German/Russian
ancestry could possibly get hooked up with Indian
spirits? Obviously just being married to an
Indian wasnt enough, even for me to believe.
Well it seems that the Russian culture may have
actually been the first migration and are
directly related to the American Indian. Who
knows. We have a saying in my line of work called
"Prima facie", or on the face of it. Ill
go with that until something better comes along.
