AL GORE SPEECH ON MARTIN LUTHER KING ANNIVERSARY
First, here is a somewhat amusing example. Al Gore talks forwards
about a new initiative he and President Clinton are proposing on civil
rights laws. However, all is not as smooth in the Clinton camp as he
would have us believe. When he talks about President Clinton and the
proposal, backwards he says: "His awful pride. I don't deserve
it." The reversal is played at three speeds, then the exact
forward is played followed by the reversal again. Then the entire
track is played backwards so you can hear the reversal amongst the
gibberish.
...and to Congressman unbelievable courageous, John Lewis and his wife...
Dousing their soul (Exploring who they are)
...30 years later that is still the question. What will become of Dr. King's dream...
They shout the voice (His dream is still being followed)
..we are called upon to choose. In the words of the famous hymn, once
to every man and nation comes the moment to decide in the strife for
truth and falsehood, for the good or evil side...
They share the
lamb. You grow with snow (A spiritual congruent reversal with
theological significance. Referring to the Lamb of God - Christ -
allowing us to grow by washing our sins as clean as snow.)
..indeed our challenge is to appreciate and celebrate our differences
as a necessary prelude to transcending them in order to join together
in celebrating what we all have in common as children of God...
Seen a mark in their law, you know (There are problems with
legislation)
..and the mass movement led by Dr. Martin Luther King Junior gave us a
chance to redeem our Nation's soul and much progress has been made...
You were smashed, yet so big (Praising the Negroes)
..if he were here today I believe he would be proud that this
administration has appointed more blacks, more Hispanics, more Asian
Americans, more native Americans to cabinet positions and judgeships
and other high posts than ever before in American history...
We've seen the crime in it
..that is why I am pleased to announce here today that President
Clinton and I are proposing as part of his initiative on race, the
largest single increase in the enforcement of our civil right laws in
nearly two decades...
His awful pride. I don't deserve it
..I believe Dr. King would be proud of how diverse our culture has
become with people of all races and ethnicities listening to each
others music, reading each others books living and working together...
See the sin planners (Followed immediately by... "but I believe he
would be disappointed by how destructive and dangerous some of our
culture has become with guns, drugs and violence against women..." -
the reversal preludes what was said next.)
..they're not in favour if it if you merely have the potential to be a
leader of your community and bring people together, to teach people
who are hungry for knowledge and heal families who need medical care,
so I say we see through your colour blind...
You've made the name a
creep (Talking about people using King's words to further their own
agenda - they defame his name)
..when the supreme court then struck down segregated transportation he
quickly defined the victory not as a victory for colored folks, oh no
don't make the victory that small. That was a victory for justice and
good will. And from the steps of the Lincoln memorial he told us of
his dream that American would live out the true meaning of its
creed...
I roam on the hill with this (This is an issue he will
pursue on Capitol Hill)
